FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

  • a.I am moving abroad with my family; how can I benefit from a checkup at your establishment ?  Modifier

    If your company is a member of our association, you can benefit from a checkup at our centre, as can your family, at the expense of your employer.

    To proceed, when making an appointment - which can be done preferably by telephone but also by fax or email - you will need to provide us with your company's membership number and ask them to confirm that they will take responsibility for the cost of this appointment.

    If your company is not a member, the checkup will need to be paid for by you, bearing in mind that these costs will not be reimbursed by the French national health service, but instead we will provide you with an invoice.

  • b.I am an expatriate and my company is asking me to attend an appointment with your centre, and I would like to know if my family members, who are accompanying me abroad, can also benefit from this checkup?  Modifier

    It is up to your company to decide if they will cover the cost of the appointment for your family or not.

  • c.My company is not a member of the CMETE; can I still benefit from a health checkup at your centre, and if so, under what conditions?  Modifier

    You can attend an appointment as an "individual", in other words the checkup will need to be paid for by you, bearing in mind that these costs are not reimbursed by the French national health service.

    You will be provided with an invoice at the end of the checkup.

  • d.How long does the medical appointment last ?  Modifier

    You should allow between one-and-a-half and two hours per person.

    For a family, the amount of time varies according to the status of the various family members, bearing in mind that the total amount of time is not simply a multiplication by the number of people.

  • e.Should the children attending the appointment be fasting ?  Modifier

    Children under the age of 10 years do not need to be fasting when attending.

  • f.I am moving abroad as an expatriate in four months; when should I plan my appointment?  Modifier

    If you have any special requirements regarding the dates and time of the appointment, you should make your appointment as soon as possible, especially during the summer period.

    You should be aware, however, that the medical fitness certificate issued at the end of the checkup is valid for 3 months.

  • g.Which examinations will I undergo during the course of the checkup at the CMETE ?  Modifier

    In general :

    • A consultation with the doctor;
    • Laboratory tests;
    • An electrocardiogram;
    • An X-ray of the lungs;
    • A vaccination update.

    (This all remains, however, at the doctor’s discretion)

    It is possible that other examinations will be performed as well according to the requirements of the company, the host country and the state of health of the person being examined.

    For children, the electrocardiogram and the lung X-ray are not always performed and will be at the discretion of the doctor.

  • h.Should you attend the appointment in a fasting state ?  Modifier

    For appointments in the morning, you should preferably have been fasting for a period of at least 8 hours. You are allowed to drink water, tea or coffee, without sugar and without milk.

    For appointments in the afternoon, you have the option to arrive from 1 PM onwards in order to have the samples taken, which will allow you to go to lunch and return for the consultation with the doctor at the time that will be allocated to you.
